CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Crash

• A vehicle struck a fence in the 2100 block of Northpark Drive just after 9:05 a.m. on May 9. No injuries were reported.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported at the top of the Interstate 5 northbound off ramp at exit 81 just before 3:15 p.m. on May 9 after a truck towing another truck failed to stop at the red light and collided with another vehicle. The suspects in the trucks fled the scene and were not located. No injuries were reported.

 

Fraud

• Fraudulent checks were reported at a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 1:30 p.m. on May 9.

• Just before 5:25 p.m. on May 9, a victim reported fraudulent charges on his debit card after allowing a friend to use it for certain purchases. The victim discovered an additional $2,000 in charges to what he had authorized his friend to use. The case is still under investigation.

• Just after 5:30 p.m. on May 10, a business owner in the 1200 block of Mellen Street reported a payroll check had been altered and cashed by a former employee. The case is under investigation.

 

Other Theft

• Components at an electric charging station in the 1200 block of Lum Road were reported stolen at approximately 11:55 a.m. on May 9.

• At approximately 5:20 p.m. on May 9, there was a report from a restaurant in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue that a man left without paying for his meal. The suspect was seen leaving in a pickup truck.

• At 5:30 p.m. on May 9, a catalytic converter was reported stolen from a van in the 2600 block of Cooks Hill Road sometime within the last couple of days.

• A bicycle that was locked up in a rack in the 100 block of South Silver Street over the weekend was reported stolen just after 6:15 p.m. on May 9.

• A Chehalis man was cited for allegedly stealing the contents of a donation jar in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 7:10 a.m. on May 10.

• Just before 8:45 a.m. on May 11, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 2200 block of Earl Street sometime overnight was reported.

 

Trespassing

• A Tacoma woman was cited for trespassing in the 100 block of South Silver Street just before 2 p.m. on May 9.

 

Spitting in Woman’s Face 

• A 23-year-old Bigfork, Montana man was arrested in Centralia on May 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for felony harassment and fourth-degree assault, both domestic violence charges, after he allegedly spit in a woman’s face and threatened to kill her while holding a knife during an argument. He was additionally booked on an outstanding arrest warrant for four charges out of Montana: two counts of assault of a family member and one count each of criminal endangerment and strangulation of a family member. He is being held on $75,000 bail for the Montana case and an additional $50,000 bail for the Lewis County case.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Just after 8:25 a.m. on May 10, an unidentified suspect in a red Ford truck reportedly attempted to drill the lock on a coin-operated car wash in the 1500 block of Kresky Avenue.

• Graffiti was reported on a fence in the 1300 block of Delaware Avenue just after 2:35 p.m. on May 10.

• At approximately 8:45 a.m. on May 11, damage to a vehicle tire that occurred in the 2600 block of Seward Avenue sometime overnight was reported.

 

Recovered Vehicle

• Members of the Centralia Clean Team, a local volunteer group that picks up trash, located a stolen motorcycle that had been hidden behind a small building at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Warsaw Street just before 1:05 p.m. on May 10. The motorcycle was returned to its owner

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Disputes

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 7:55 a.m. on May 9.

• A “family disturbance/dispute” reported in the 800 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 6:15 p.m. on May 9 is under investigation.

 

Retail Theft

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:05 p.m. on May 9.

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:55 p.m. on May 10.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:25 p.m. on May 10.

 

Other Theft

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a truck in the 1800 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at 10:05 a.m. on May 9.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:45 p.m. on May 9 is under investigation.

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 4:45 p.m. on May 9.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 6:50 p.m. on May 9 is under investigation.

• A vehicle's front license plate was reported stolen in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 6:35 p.m. on May 10.

 



Kids Throwing Rocks

• At approximately 10:35 a.m. on May 9, a caller reported kids threw rocks through her garage window in the 300 block of Southwest 14th Street. 

 

Assault

• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 1300 block of Northwest Airport Road just after 4:50 p.m. on May 9. The case is under investigation.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• Suspicious circumstances reported at the intersection of Southwest 19th Street and Southwest Snively Avenue just after 10:40 p.m. on May 9 are under investigation.

 

Trespassing

• At approximately 7:45 a.m. on May 10, the manager at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue reported a man wearing a shirt and no pants was knocking on doors and asked one man “Do you want to die tonight?” No arrests were made.

• A man reportedly tried to break into a trailer in the 700 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 4:10 a.m. on May 11. No arrests were made.

 

Death Investigation

• A death reported in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 8:55 a.m. on May 10 is under investigation.

 

Crash

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 9:35 p.m. on May 10.

 

MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Morton Incidents

• An officer assisted with reuniting a lost dog with its owner at the Chevron Station at 9:05 a.m. on April 14.

• An officer was dispatched to a harassment complaint in the 600 block of Airport Way just after 3:05 p.m. on April 14. The officer spoke with both parties involved and advised them not to contact each other.

• An officer was dispatched to the area of First Street and Adams Avenue regarding a single vehicle accident just after 2:40 p.m. on April 15. The driver had lost consciousness and left the roadway, striking a fence, a stop sign and a parked vehicle. The driver was cited for operating a vehicle without insurance.

• An officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of state Route 7 just before 11:10 p.m. on April 18 to assist Washington State Patrol with a shots fired complaint from a southbound vehicle. The officer observed the described vehicle attempting to pass a semi. The driver was detained, and the officer cleared when additional units arrived.

• An officer was dispatched to the Dollar General just before 9:05 p.m. on April 21 regarding an incident involving three juveniles, one which was listed as a runaway. The officer detained the juvenile and returned him to his mother.

• An officer was dispatched to Morton Elementary School just after 12:15 p.m. on April 22 for a complaint of a dog running at large. The dog ran onto the playground during recess and attacked a child. The child’s coat was torn but the child was uninjured. The officer contacted the dog’s owner and issued a citation for allowing a dog to run at large.

• An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Westlake Avenue just before 3:55 p.m. on April 24 regarding a hit-and-run collision. The case is pending further leads.

• An officer was dispatched to Morton Elementary School at 10:30 a.m. on May 2 regarding a vehicle accident. The officer assisted the parties with information exchange and an informational report was taken.

• An officer assisted Adult Protective Services with an investigation in the 800 block of Main Avenue just before 8 p.m. on May 4.

 

Mossyrock Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 9:25 a.m. on April 12 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• Items were reported stolen from a student’s backpack at Mossyrock High School just after 12:45 p.m. on April 14. The case is under investigation.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 1:35 p.m. on April 15 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• Lumber was reported stolen from a building site in the 200 block of Mossyrock Road just after 5:55 p.m. on April 15. The case is under investigation.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street at 6:25 p.m. on April 15 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of East State Street just after 9:15 a.m. on April 18 regarding a malicious mischief complaint at the laundromat. The incident is pending further investigation.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street at 7:20 a.m. on April 19 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just before noon on April 21 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just before 10 p.m. on April 21 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 6:05 p.m. on April 24 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just before 3:45 p.m. on April 25 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just before 9:55 p.m. on April 25 regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. An informational report was taken.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 150 inmates, including 130 in the general population and 20 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 21 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 17 were reported male and three were reported female.
