CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Possession of a controlled substance

• A 24-year-old Chehalis man and a 24-year-old Tumwater woman were cited for possession of meth following a traffic stop at the intersection of West Plum and South Pearl streets at 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 24.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 38-year-old homeless man was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass and possession of meth in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 15.

 

Assault

• A 36-year-old Elma man was cited for assaulting someone at a medical facility in the 3500 block of Steelhammer Drive just after 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 25.

 

DUI

• A 34-year-old Winlock woman was arrested for DUI at the intersection of Mellen Street and Marsh Avenue just before 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 25. She was also charged with reckless endangerment for having a child with her in the vehicle.

• A 47-year-old Centralia man was arrested for DUI and tampering with evidence after he was involved in a collision in the 700 block of South Yew Street at approximately 12 a.m. on Dec. 27 while under the influence of narcotics then “attempting to conceal the evidence.”

 

Theft

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 1500 block of Lum Road at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Dec. 26. The case is under investigation.

• A 47-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for shoplifting items from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9:35 p.m. on Dec. 26. She reportedly had fentanyl in her possession at the time of her arrest.

 

Burglary

• A 45-year-old Centralia man was arrested for first-degree burglary just after 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 26 after he allegedly went into a bar in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue and assaulted a bartender and a patron. He was reportedly asked to leave several times before the assault.

 

Warrants

• A 40-year-old Centralia man was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 10:35 p.m. on Dec. 26.

• A 48-year-old Centralia man was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant at the intersection of South Silver and Jefferson streets at approximately 1:55 a.m. on Dec. 27.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accident

• A possible broken hand was reported following a two-vehicle collision in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 25.

 



Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen reported a man driving a red truck was trying to run over a female pedestrian in the 200 block of Northwest North Street just before 4 a.m. on Dec. 26.

• Just before 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 26, a citizen in the 700 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue reported “possible child porn via CyberLog” was being sent to his underage stepdaughter.

 

Scam

• A text scam was reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just after 6 a.m. on Dec. 26. The scammer reportedly wanted the subject to send him gift cards via a dating app.

 

Under investigation

• An incident reported in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 9:10 a.m. on Dec. 26 is under investigation.

 

Vicious dogs

• At approximately 12:10 p.m. on Dec. 26, a woman reported two dogs “charged at her” and “bit at her feet” in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street the day prior. No injuries were reported.

 

Theft

• A subject was cited for stealing a bike from the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 12:55 p.m. on Dec. 26.

 

Harassment

• Harassing text messages were reported in the 10 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 2:10 p.m. on Dec. 26. The reporting party was advised to get a civil protection order.

 

Malicious mischief

• A case of second-degree malicious mischief reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 5:40 a.m. on Dec. 27 is under investigation.

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 66 illness-related calls, 20 injury-related calls, 16 fire-related calls, six non-emergency service calls, six vehicle accidents, five Lifeline medical alerts, one suicide-related call, one pregnancy-related call and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 148 inmates, including 135 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 10 inmates, including two booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the City of McCleary, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
