A search and rescue team recovered the body of a 61-year-old solo hiker at the bottom of a cliff near Horsetail Falls Trailhead on Saturday.
The unidentified woman had been expected back on Friday night, a friend told authorities.
Rescuers with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Gresham police searched overnight starting at 10 p.m. on Friday. They used drones but the woman hadn’t been carrying a cellphone so they couldn’t use cell tower pings to narrow her location.
By Saturday morning, tracking dogs had joined more than 50 people searching for the woman.
She was found at 12:30 p.m. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner will determine an exact cause of death.
