Southwest Washington Dance Center to Hold First In-Person Performance in 17 Months

Posted

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Southwest Washington Dance Center (SWDC) in Chehalis will present its first in-person performances since December 2019. Performances will take place at the Centralia High School Performing Arts Center. Dancers of all age groups, from 2 to adult, will showcase their pieces.

The SWDC has been in Lewis County since 1982, and the 17-month performance drought has been hard for the young dancers. But this week will mark the return of a special yearly tradition, the “Spring Into Summer” recital.

From the SWDC website: “Spring Into Summer is our end of the year all school recital. Every level and style of dance is featured in this performance. The all school performance is split into two sections, our ‘Tiny Toes’ production featuring our creative movement classes, our Pre-Jazz/Ballet classes and our school tours production. All other levels 1-6 are featured in the all school performance. Spring Into Summer is held every year in June.”

This year’s recital will also showcase two performances by the 2020 and 2021 graduating seniors on Thursday and Saturday.

Due to COVID-19, the Performing Arts Center can only operate at 50% capacity, so tickets are limited for the public. For more information about ticket availability, call 360-748-4789. To read more about the SWDC, visit swwdance.org.
