With a player out with injury, Onalaska moved Andi Oliver and Desi Smith to new roles and the duo flourished to help the Loggers sweep visiting Rainier (25-14, 25-15, 25-9) in 2B Central League action on Thursday during senior night.
The Loggers have now won four matches in a row after last falling to Toutle Lake on Sept. 28.
Smith moved to libero and Oliver, who normally stays in the middle, played all the way around. Both served 100%, while Oliver added three kills and two block kills and Smith tallied 20 digs.
“Andi played the net so well. She really stepped up,” Onalaska coach Jenny Hamilton said.
Senior Hannah James also showed out, serving 16 for 17 with four kills, while Dakota Hamilton contributed two kills, eight digs and 13 assists and Morgan Hamilton pitched in a match-high 12 kills, 25 digs and served 100%.
“The girls have worked so hard this year,” Hamilton said.
For Rainier, it was an another disappointing outing for a Mountaineers’ team that has lost seven in a row now.
“Ony showed up and we didn’t,” Rainier coach Shauna Carpenter said. “Natasha Wood dug up everything and our setters Brooklynn Swenson and Olivia Easley played their hearts out.
Rainier (3-12, 1-9 league) closes out the regular season with a home match against Kalam on senior night on Monday.
Onalaska (9-3, 5-1 league) hosts Morton-White Pass on Monday.
