The Tumwater baseball team stretched its current winning streak to six games Thursday, taking down Shelton in five innings, 14-4, in what was officially a non-league contest between two 2A EvCo teams.

The Thunderbirds mashed out 12 hits, half of which were of the extra-base variety. Nick Lowery blasted a two-run home run to cap the scoring in the top of the fifth, but prior to that, Derek Thompson, Kyler Collier, Brayden Oram, and Eddie Marson all hit doubles, and Briar Finney had a triple.

Tumwater hung seven runs on the scoreboard before it ever had to go out into the field, leading 4-0 before it recorded an out and sending 13 batters to the plate in the frame.

Marson finished the day 3 for 3, while Oram went 2 for 4 behind him. The two combined for seven RBIs.

Alex Overbay went one inning as an opener, then gave the ball to Ayden Ramsey, who struck out two and allowed one hit in three innings of work. Lowery gave up three runs in the fifth, but all were unearned, and he got the final out before the Highclimbers could cut the deficit back to single-digits.

Tumwater’s set to face W.F. West on Friday, going for a season sweep of the Bearcats.
