T-Birds topple Highclimbers for sixth straight win

The Tumwater baseball team won its sixth game in a row on Tuesday, defeating Shelton at home 8-3.

Shelton opened the scoring in the top of the first with a run, but Tumwater responded with four runs over the next three innings. 

After the Highclimbers got within one with a pair in the fifth, the T-Birds responded with a pair of their own in the fifth before tacking on two insurance runs in the sixth.

Jimmy Womach pitched the first four innings, striking out five while allowing just three hits and one run, and Luke Overbay struck out seven and allowed just one hit and two runs in three innings of relief.

Landon Roy finished with three hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs, while Derek Thompson hit a double and scored two runs as part of his two-hit day.

The T-Birds (9-4, 7-0 2A EvCo) will face the Highclimbers again in Shelton on Wednesday.
