The Tumwater boys basketball team gave up a run late but held on to win a non-league matchup at 3A Mountain View, 51-48 on Saturday.

Clay Morgan led Tumwater with 15 points, seven of which came in an 18-point third quarter for the Thunderbirds (2-0, 1-0 2A EvCo).

Nolan Campbell added 11 points, and Sahara Anthony had nine.

Henry Wilson led the Thunderbirds with five rebounds, and also scored four points.

Tumwater held its hosts to just 13 points in the first half, but couldn’t do much more on offense themselves, leading by just nine at the break. The lead became 13 by the end of the third, but Mountain View blasted off for 21 in the fourth, forcing Tumwater to hold on for the win.

The Thunderbirds will stay out of non-league play with another matchup against a foe from the 3A GSHL, taking on Kelso at home on Tuesday.
