It was a tale of two games for the Morton-White Pass softball team in Cathlamet on Wednesday. After an inning and a half, the Timberwolves trailed by 12, and a blowout appeared to be in store.
A blowout did end up happening, but it was MWP that blew out Wahkiakum, as the T-Wolves scored 27 runs in the final three innings to beat the Mules 29-17 in five.
Wahkiakum led 14-2 after two, but MWP outscored the Mules 27-3 in the final three innings to flip the script. The Timberwolves scored 15 runs in the third before adding eight in the fourth and tacking on five in the fifth.
Ruby Barnett hit an inside-the-park home run and drove in four runs as part of her two-hit day, while Ryelin Wiedenmann added four hits and three RBIs while also scoring three runs.
Bria Elkins and Kyra Bowen added two hits and three RBIs apiece, and Izzy Loucks added a hit and three RBIs of her own. Siara May reached base in both of her plate appearances and knocked in a pair.
MWP (7-11, 1-6 C2BL) will wrap up its league slate on Thursday at Adna.
