Talon Betts Lone Winner at Districts; Bearcat Boys Third, Girls Fourth

Rochester junior Talon Betts was the lone local winner, while W.F. West boys placed third and the girls fourth, at the District 4 2A Track & Field Championships Thursday in Washougal.

Rochester junior Talon Betts was the only local winner, capturing the boys 200 meters in a personal record of 22.88 seconds. He also took second in the 100 with a PR of 11.14.

W.F. West boys were propelled by a pair of second-place finishes, with Seth Hoff in the high jump (5-10) and Connor Russell in both the 110 hurdles (15.31) and 300 hurdles (41.76).

The 4x100 relay of  Declan McDonald, Hoff, Darren Gray and Ryan Hirte was third in a time of 45.96. The 4x100 relay of Russell, Bryan Bach, Andrew Scheer and Charles Mallonee also placed third (3:40.46).

Bryson Boyd placed third in the shot put with a PR of 49-11, while Hoff was fourth in both the javelin (156-03) and the long jump (20-03).

For the Bearcat girls, the 4x200 relay of Brenna Witchey, Amelia Etue, Hodaya Starr and Kelly Robertson finished second (1:51.89).



Sadie Dahlin had a 2-foot PR in the pole vault (9-06) to place second, while Robertson was second in the 300 hurdles (49.19) and Brianna Powe finished second in the discus (93-04).

Junior Kyla McCallum threw a PR in the javelin with a toss of 113-11 to place third. Senior Gracie Ericson took fourth in the long jump with a PR leap of 15-04.5. Ericson was fifth in the triple jump with a season record of 31-10.

"Our boys team finishing third and the girls fourth was an indicator of the depth we have in a variety of events, as well as how important the team effort was since we didn't take any of the top spots,” W.F. West coach Autumn Ledgerwood said.

For Rochester, Hannah Rhodeheaver threw the girls shot put 31-08 to finish fifth.

For Centralia, senior Satine Sas placed third in the discus with a toss of 90-11.5 to finish third. She was also fifth in the javelin with a PR of 106-06.
