TCWC, Mat Rats Rebooted finish first and second at Concede Nothing Tournament

The Twin City Wrestling Club and Mat Rats Rebooted both had excellent team performances on Sunday at Centralia High School, as the two teams finished first and second respectively out of 34 teams at the Concede Nothing Folkstyle Tournament.

TCWC had 85 wrestlers compete in the tournament, including 67 top-5 placers and 46 top-3 placers. As a team, it finished with 189 points, 16.5 ahead of the Mat Rats, who took second with 172.5 points.

Leading the way were 11 first-place finishers: Aiden Eastman (6U-47), Jackson Coleman (6U-52), Khai Davis (8U-40), Kaiden Arias (8U-49), Luke Vizgaudis (8U-53), Isabella Nelson (Girls K-2nd 44-49), Cohen Jewell (10U-84), Tate Johnson (12U-74), Jacob Miraglia (12U-78), Emerson Meeks (12U-92), and Anna Porter (Girls 6th-8th 71-72).

Nineteen more finished second: Layne Balzer (6U-47), Hayden Templeton 8U-45), Jaxon Martinez (8U-49), Talmai Houk (8U-53), Colt Miller (8U-56), Remington Giese (8U-85), Charlotte Porte Girls K-2nd (44-49), Evalyn Martinez (Girls K-2nd 52-57), Nova Hebert (Girls K-2nd 60-62), Zayvynn Sanders (10U-50), Jameson Mays (10U-67), Beau Babka (10U-77), Davin Stratton (10U-84), Grayson Day (12U-74), Riley Nichols (12U-78), Harrison Woodward (12U-82), Skylar Powell (Girls 3rd-5th 92-97), Kaiden Coates (14U-135), and Zoie Cortes (Girls 6th-8th 183+).

Sixteen others placed third: Emberly Sharp (Girls K-2nd 44-49), Adaline Tyring (K-2nd 60-62), Julian Jones (10U-59), Julian Huang (10U-63), Grayson Morgan (10U-84), Hunter Rice (10U-93), Ezra Sudano (12U-67), Gunner Hicks (12U-98), Archer Bogar (12U-108), Ophilea Cortes (Girls 3rd-5th 78-82), Natasha Hicks (Girls 3rd-5th 92-97), Kaed Davis (14U-92), Karson Cheney (14U 126), Beau Simpson (14U-150), Lula-May Hilliard (Girls 6th-8th 71-72), and Elija Day (USA Junior 157-161).

Next up for TCWC is the Washington State Wrestling Association Thurston County Folkstyle Tournament at Black Hills High School on Sunday.



The Mat Rats fielded 31 wrestlers, and 22 finished in the top three.

Leading the way for the Mat Rats were six gold medalists: Juniper Thomson (Girls K-2nd 52-57), Myryn Phillips (10U 59), Triton Wait (10U 93), Kale Kinerk (10U 120), Connor Rapp (14U 140-150), and Charlie Wheeler (Girls 6th-8th 115-120).

Eight Mat Rats took second: Myryn Phillips (12U 63), Parker Fish (10U 71), Cassius Wait (10U 120), Kaleb Sutton (12U 117-135), Camryn Reeson (Girls 3rd-5th 78-82), Ayden Medina (14U 100), Connor Rapp (16U 157), and Aliya Penner (Girls 6th-8th 71-72).

And eight others took third: Juniper Thomson (8U, 53), Addie Ojard (10U 71 & Girls 3rd-5th 70-72), Westen McFadden (10U 77), Tucker Eisenmann (12U 70), Liam Clark (12U 86), Lincoln Bernard (14U 100), and Kyler Fish (14U 105).

Nine others — Kane Ragsac (8U 45), Coleman Willadsen (8U 49), George Swidecki (10U 84), Ritchy Montano (12U 63), Westen McFadden (12U 78), Carter Hedden (12U 82), Patrick Gibbs (14U 88), Charlie Wheeler (14U 115), and Kimber Wait (Girls 6th-8th 115-120) — placed fourth, and Liam Sutton (10U 67) and Henry Swidecki (14U 96) finished fifth.

“I couldn’t be prouder to coach such a dedicated and hardworking team,” Mat Rats coach Zack Demers said. “The grind and determination everyone puts in at practice is really paying off.”
