The Tenino boys basketball team fell behind early and never recovered at R.A. Long on Saturday, losing 80-43.
The Lumberjacks had no trouble getting into a rhythm early on offense, capitalizing on Tenino turnovers by scoring 20 in the first before adding 21 in the second to open up a 22-point lead at halftime.
“They just run and trap you the whole time,” Tenino coach Ryan Robertson said. “They could just turn us over and go score.”
Robertson commended R.A. Long’s Rhet Young, who finished with a game-high 26 points, saying that he was nearly impossible to stop Saturday night.
Austin Gonia scored 15 points, while Jack Burkhardt added 10. Jaxson Gore and Will Feltus both added six.
“There was progress tonight," Robertson said. “We just played a really good team.”
Tenino (2-11, 0-1 1A Evergreen) will look to snap its five-game losing streak at Elma on Wednesday.
