Offense came easy for the Tenino boys soccer team for most of the night against Chief Leschi on Tuesday, as the Beavers ran away with a 12-0 victory on the blacktop.
“Anytime you can get a league win, it's great,” Tenino coach Trevor Fetbrandt said. “Although we’re an incredibly young group, we are more experienced than they were. We had a lot of things going in our favor and we wanted to maximize it.”
Miguel Espinoza opened the scoring in the first minute of the game, and he had a hat trick by the 14th minute.
Carlos Sanchezscored in the 23rd minute, and Radly Whitaker made it 5-0 in the 30th. Tyler Minerich scored a goal of his own in the 33rd, and Whitaker made it 7-0 with his second of the half just minutes later.
At halftime, Fetbrandt urged his team to stay focused despite the scoreline.
“Can we execute a lot of the principles and concepts we talk about?” Fetbrandt said. “The second half was executed astronomically better.”
The Beavers added five more in the second half, including a fourth from Espinoza, and didn’t allow a single chance defensively.
Tenino (1-1, 1-0 1A Evergreen) will be back at home on Thursday to face Montesano.
