Even with a handful more losses and getting swept by lower classification teams, the Beavers kept it as close as possible versus the Bulldogs in getting swept 25-23, 25-23, 25-19 in a 1A Evergreen League matchup.

Since a 2-1 start, Tenino (2-4, 0-1 Evergreen) has lost three straight games. Macy Griffis ended up with 10 assists and seven digs while plenty of others stuffed the stat sheet. Kate Burkhardt had three kills and a pair of setter dumps plus eight digs and three assists.

Kylee Petrich finished with six blocks, four kills, eight digs and two service aces. Sequoia Zimmer was 100 percent from the service line.

“We played great defense,” Beavers head coach Shauna Carpenter said. “Just couldn’t get our offense to find their holes.”

Tenino will face Elma on the road on Tuesday.
