The Tenino boys golf team shot its best round of the season on Monday against Kalama, as the Beavers left Tahoma Valley Golf and Country Club with a 183-214 win.

Jaxson Gore led the way with a 39, while Ethan Baxter shot a 47 and Joey Gaidrich was just one back with a 48.

Gabe Hart logged a 49, and both Gage Robinson and Gavin Derrick recorded 52s.

It’s the Beavers’ first win of the season, but they did have some close calls in recent matches.

On Sept. 11, Baxter and Gore impressed by combining for a 91 in a loss to Elma, while on Sept. 16, Hoquiam topped Tenino by just two strokes.

In that match, Gore shot a 50, while Baxter added a 52 and Gaidrich logged a 54. Robinson and Hart weren’t far behind with a 56 and 57, but the Grizzlies did just enough to hold the Beavers off.

The following day, Gore shot a 45 and Baxter a 52, but the rest of the team struggled in a loss to Rochester.

The Beavers will look to replicate Monday’s success on Wednesday at Tahoma Valley against Montesano.
