Tenino shows growth in loss to Elma

Four eighth graders earned significant varsity minutes on Tuesday night and a youthful Beavers group gave the Eagles all kinds of fits, but lost a 1-0 heartbreaker in a Class 1A Evergreen League verdict at home.

Noah Suess, Kyler Russell, Landen Vasquez and Anthony Watkins all were given their flowers by head coach Trevor Fetbrandt following the match.

“That was a pretty impressive feat and they all grew up tonight,” Fetbrandt said. “We feel really good about the trajectory of the program.”

Elma broke a scoreless game in the 48th minute on a rebound shot by Jordan Kain. Tenino (1-5, 1-4 Evergreen) had a free kick in the 55th minute wiped off the board and had a couple bites at the apple in the final moments.

The Beavers will take on Ilwaco on Thursday night.
