For the second straight season, the Beavers have started the season 10-0, the latest win a 10-5 victory over a new Class 1A District 4 foe in the Chinooks on Saturday afternoon in Kalama.
By the time the third inning was complete, Tenino was up 5-2 and added two more in the fourth on an Austin Gonia RBI double and the senior stealing home. In the fifth, two run-scoring hits from Jude Leitch and Preston Snider plus a sac fly from Gonia made it a cozy eight-run cushion.
Gonia finished with two hits, three runs batted in, scored twice and stole five bases while Leitch, Jack Burkhardt and Will Feltus each recorded two hits. Feltus also registered five stolen bases, part of 17 for Tenino.
Zeke Haskins, Snider and Leitch battled around 10 combined walks to give up just six hits and strike out nine. The Beavers return to Evergreen League action with a three-game set against rival Montesano, starting with a Tuesday tilt at home.
