Derek Thompson’s solo home run in the bottom of the fifth went on to stand as the game-winner for Tumwater on Tuesday, when the Thunderbirds defeated Aberdeen 3-2 at home.
Thompson’s shot made the game 3-0 Tumwater at the time, but after the Bobcats scored two in the top of the sixth, the insurance run became of the utmost importance.
Jimmy Womach pitched four and two-third innings of shutout ball, and Braeden Conrad got the save with a perfect seventh.
Luke Overbay and Landon Roy drove in the T-Birds’ other two runs, both of which came in the first inning.
Tumwater (6-4, 4-0 2A EvCo) will head to the coast to face Aberdeen again on Wednesday.
