The date of the incident was listed inconsistently in court documents filed in Lewis County Superior Court in December. Some documents list the incident date as Aug. 17 while others list the date as July 9.

Charges against the two inmates, identified as Macen Mikal Coker, 18, and Vincent Richard O’Brien, 18, were filed on Dec. 22.

The two co-defendants are accused of “joining in” on an attack against another Green Hill inmate, according to court documents.

The 17-year-old inmate who allegedly initiated the attack was charged Dec. 11 in Lewis County Juvenile Court, according to court documents.

“According to the victim, the attack was put off from earlier in the day because the attackers did not want to lose recreation time at the facility,” charging documents state.

All three defendants face one count of prison riot, which is a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. O’Brien faces one additional count of fourth-degree assault.

O’Brien has an arraignment hearing scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 11.

Coker, who had been released from Green Hill School as of Jan. 3, will be issued a summons notice for a future preliminary hearing.

The case marks the seventh riot at the Chehalis facility that was charged in Lewis County Superior Court in 2023.
