The Tumwater softball team kept pace atop the EvCo standings on Monday, defeating W.F. West 2-0 at Recreation Park.

Sarah Stevens and Ella Ferguson combined to allow just two hits, and Ferguson tallied seven strikeouts in her three innings.

Megan Barrett tallied two hits and drove in both Tumwater runs, and Marissa La Praim and Erika Schock also collected two hits apiece.

Taylor Tobin had a solid outing in the circle despite the loss, as she allowed just two runs (one earned) without issuing a walk and striking out 10.

Avalon Myers and Karlee Coleman tallied W.F. West’s two hits.

With the win, Tumwater (13-3, 11-2 2A EvCo) remains tied with Aberdeen atop the league standings, but the T-Birds have the tiebreaker because they took two of the three matchups against the Bobcats.

The Thunderbirds will look to close in on the league title on Wednesday, when they host Black Hills.

W.F. West (10-8, 7-6 2A EvCo) remains in third, and the Bearcats will face Centralia on Wednesday.
