DARRINGTON — Bryce Cline scored 23 points to lead the Cardinals to a 56-39 win against Darrington in a non-league boys basketball game here on Thursday.

Coleson Richendollar tallied 10 points and Nolan Swofford chipped in nine points for Winlock.

Caleb Rivera led Darrington with 14 points. Bashaun Williams added 12 points and Brevin Ross scored 11 points.

The Cardinals started strong with a 24-7 lead after the first quarter, but the Loggers bounced back in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 30-20 at halftime.

Winlock got back on track in the second half and outscored Darrington 26-19 to hold on for the win.

“We started off well, a 24-7 quarter is pretty good. We kind of lost a little bit of intensity and let them back into it in the second quarter. It’s been a long day, a long drive but the kids responded well,” Winlock coach Nick Bamer said. “Darrington is a good team, I expect them to compete up in the north. They have three pretty good players. They have a lot of potential, it was a good win for us.”

Winlock (1-1) hosts Tennison Woods College from Australia at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
