Thursday's Track & Field: Black Hills Defeats Rochester

ROCHESTER — The Rochester boys and girls track and field teams fell to Black Hills here on Thursday in an Evergreen 2A Conference dual meet.

For the boys, Michael North won the 400 meters in 58.89 seconds. Kelin Pasko won the 3200, finishing in 10:26.70.

Rochester’s Gerardo Sanchez Carpio won the high jump and Chris Latham won the triple jump.

On the girls side, Smbaikaye Huriavi won the 400 with a time of 1:16.12 and the triple jump event. Gabby Holman won the 3200 meter race in 16:25. The 4x200 meter relay team of Sufina Ahmath, Kate Peltier, Kaelee Murphy and Huriavi won the race with a time of 2:04.37.

Paige Winter won the shot put for Rochester and Peltier won the high jump event with a height of 4-06.

Rochester is back on the track on Tuesday, April 11, traveling to Bearcat Stadium in Chehalis to face off with W.F. West and Tumwater.

Vikings Boys, Girls Third at White Pass

RANDLE — Mossyrock’s boys and girls teams each finished third here Thursday at White Pass High School in a six-team Central 2B League track meet.

The Vikings’ Makenzie Barrows, Maleah Nixon Klein, Sarah Lovan and Stephanie Fried won the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays to lead the way in the girls’ meet.



Andee Nelson added a win in the triple jump, at 29 feet, 5.5 inches, and took third in the long jump and 800 for the Vikings, while Heather Edgar and Jamie Carlson finished second and third, respectively, in the shot put. Nixon Klein was second in the 200.

Toledo’s DavinaGrace Ramon won the 100 hurdles (20.94 seconds), took second in the 300 hurdles and finished third in the high jump, while Shayna McGovern was second in the 100 hurdles. Ally Bacon was second in the 200 and third in the javelin for the Indians, and teammate Abigail Row was third in the 100 and 200 while Alyssa Gaskill was second in the 400.

Winlock’s Maggie Howsden was second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.

Kalama’s Parker Esary won the shot put and discus, and teammate Kaelyn Shipley won the javelin by over 37 feet at 151-07.

On the boys side, Mossyrock’s Levi Munoz won the long jump at 19 feet, 11 inches, and ran a leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay team (3:47.07) with Justin Gootgeld, Lucas Johnson and Sean Johnson. Lucas and Sean Johnson also finished first and third, respectively, in the 400, and Munoz was second in the 200. Danny Summers finished second in the javelin for the Vikings.

Toledo’s Anthony Peak won the 110 hurdles in 18 seconds and took second in the 300 hurdles, and teammate Joe Wallace tied with Morton-White Pass’ Tristan Storey for first in the high jump at 5-10. Storey, a sophomore, also took second in the 100.

Winlock’s Robert Archer finished second in the 400, Toledo’s Ethan Buck was second in the long jump and MWP’s Caleb Heath was second in the triple jump.

Kalama’s boys and girls each topped the team standings.

Toledo, Mossyrock and MWP will all run in a C2BL meet in Onalaska on April 13.
