A Yelm man has been charged for allegedly breaking into a Michael’s Distribution Center in Centralia on Wednesday, damaging employees’ vehicles with a blade and threatening two employees with a blade and bolt cutters.
The defendant, Patrick M. Bergin, 32, is accused of breaking part of the window of the guard shack with a rock and then walking through a gated area onto the property in the 200 block of Hoss Road on Sept. 15.
According to two employees who made contact with responding deputies, Bergin used “a bracelet that had a blade attached to it” to damage employees’ vehicles. When two employees confronted him, Bergin allegedly “swung the blade and a set of bolt cutters at them while he stated ‘Do you want me to shoot you? Do you want to be stabbed?’” according to court documents.
Bergin reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to flee on foot, but was restrained by two Lewis County sheriff’s deputies and the two employees.
He is being held at the Lewis County Jail on a $75,000 bail for one count each of second-degree assault, second-degree burglary, third-degree malicious mischief and resisting arrest.
His next court appearance is an arraignment hearing scheduled for Sept. 23.
