Thurston County saw 334 new COVID-19 cases during the period of Nov. 15 to Nov. 19 and six new deaths associated with the virus were tallied.
Due to an early deadline for the Thanksgiving holiday, results for the week of Nov. 15-21 were only updated through Nov. 19.
The reported deaths included a man in his 40s, a man in his 60s, a man in his 70s, a man and woman in their 80s and a woman in her 90s. The additional deaths brought Thurston County’s total to 233 as of Nov. 19.
The department reported 334 new COVID-19 infections during the same timeframe.
The running total of infections throughout the pandemic in the county landed at 22,018 as of Nov. 19.
The percentage of those infected with COVID-19 who have died has decreased to 1.1% for the county, according to the Washington State Department of Health (DOH).
Out of the 22,018 total county cases reported by Nov. 19, patients who have recovered or are recovering has increased to 20,566, according to the health department.
Since last reported, there were 13 new hospitalizations in Thurston County, according to DOH, making the total number since the start of the pandemic land at 1,390 as of Nov. 18.
Health care workers have administered a total of 398,237 vaccine doses countywide since the beginning of the pandemic, according to DOH. That’s more than 7,000 additional doses since last reported, through Nov. 18.
In neighboring Pierce County, 24 deaths were recorded since numbers a week ago through Nov. 19, and new cases have decreased to 335.4 per 100,000 population as reported during the 14-day period between Oct. 27 and Nov. 9, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. The total number of cases in the county reached 95,133 as of Nov. 19, with 914 deaths.
In Washington state, as of Nov. 18, there were 670,652 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 91,466 probable cases, a total of 42,087 people have been hospitalized because of the illness, and 9,110 people have died, according to DOH. The statewide rate of those who have died after contracting the virus stands at 1.2%. About 10.4 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state. The statewide occupancy of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units is at 19.8%.
Nationwide, as of press deadline, there were 47,587,441 total cases since the start of the pandemic. There were 770,461 confirmed deaths and about 451.4 million doses of vaccines have been administered since the start of the pandemic, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That’s about 9 million more vaccines administered since last reported. New cases over the last 30 days have been on an upward trajectory, while new deaths over the last 30 days are on a downward trend, CDC graphs indicated.
