Tigers Blow Out Class 2A Black Hills

Apparently Napavine didn’t take losing to rival Kalama on Friday very kindly. The Tigers strolled into Black Hills High School Monday and walked out with an 86-49 victory over the Class 2A Wolves.

“It was our best game of the season,” Napavine coach Rex Stanley said.

The Tigers were relentless from the get-go, jumping out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter, holding a commanding 40-16 advantage heading into the locker room and a 68-34 lead heading into the final frame before cruising to victory.

Sophomore scoring-machine James Grose led the Tigers with 26 points, while workhorse Keith Olson added 18, Jarin Prather knocked in 11 and Glade Shannon chipped in 10.

“Glade Shannon played well with Keith in foul trouble,” Stanley said. “He’s a solid kid. His minutes are inconsistent. For him to be ready and take advantage, he stepped up and played really well.”

Napavine (9-2, 3-1 C2BL) heads to Onalaska Wednesday to continue league play. Black Hills (8-6, 4-2 EvCo) travels to Shelton Wednesday for a 2A EvCo matchup.
