Tigers Bounce Back Against Stevenson

After a tough league defeat at the hands of Adna Friday night, the Napavine girls basketball team buckled down and 18.5 hours later, picked up a dominant, 88-18, win over Stevenson at home Saturday.

The Tigers turned it over just seven times, and dished out 19 team assists in a well-rounded scoring effort, with 12 players earning a place in the score column.

“I thought our girls came ready to play today,” Tigers coach Shane Schutz said. “Our defense created opportunities on offense, I was really proud of our team in making the extra pass.”

Led by eighth-grader Hayden Kaut’s game-high 23 points, and Keira O’Neill’s 15 points off the bench, the Tigers racked up 29 team steals and suffocated the Bulldogs’ offense. Most of the Tigers’ junior varsity players suited up for the fourth quarter to earn valuable playing time, and outscored Stevenson 13-4 in the final frame.

The Tigers (7-8, 3-4 C2BL) take on Morton-White Pass next on Monday for senior night.
