Despite having six errors and falling 6-3 to Raymond/South Bend, Napavine head softball coach Josh Fay took a glass half-full approach following Friday’s non-league game at home.
“This is more meaningful than most of our wins,” Fay admitted. “Two evenly matched teams. A lot of fun to be a part of. I thought this was a good tune-up game for us.”
The Tigers (7-2) suffered from six errors and trailed 5-1 after three complete innings. They scratched across a run in the bottom of the fourth and another in the seventh, but the rally came up short.
Hannah Fay finished with two hits at the plate for Napavine and recorded four strikeouts in a complete game in the circle. Tarynn Dalebout drove in two runs and Lyla Kirkpatrick roped a double for the Tigers.
They will resume action after spring break on April 14 against Onalaska when C2BL play gets underway.
