Centralia senior Jadyn Hawley knocked down two clutch free throws down the stretch and the Tigers held off visiting Black Hills for a 44-42, 2A Evergreen Conference victory Wednesday night.

It was a rewarding win for the Tigers (6-6, 4-4 EvCo), who were coming off a blowout loss to Tumwater on Monday.

“Great team win on senior night, Centralia coach Doug Ashmore said. “Great crowd, and Makayla Chavez and the bench had great energy all night.”

Hawley, Maddie Corwin and Maddie Sievert were the three seniors honored before the match.

Chavez spearheaded the Tigers’ offensive foray, scoring a team-high 12 points, while Corwin added eight points and a team-high 10 boards and Emily Wilkerson and Liliana Babka each added seven points.

Black Hills (5-9, 3-5 EvCo) got a big scoring night from freshman floor general Kiley McMahon, who led all scorers with 17 points to go with two steals and three rebounds.

Payton Childers added seven points and eight boards for the Wolves, while Madison Parker chipped in six points and seven rebounds and Ava Klovas hauled in six boards.

Black Hills will look to turn things around when it hosts Shelton on Thursday. Centralia hosts top-ranked Tumwater on Friday.
