Centralia girls soccer battled Shelton to a 1-1 tie in regulation, then fell 5-4 in a shootout to the Highclimbers on the road Tuesday in a 2A Evergreen Conference matchup.

Tigers’ senior Hannah Robbins hit the equalizer in regulation in the 70th minute to keep them alive, but Centralia wasn’t able to capitalize in the shootout.

Centralia coach Henry Gallanger praised keeper Liliana Babka for her performance in goal, and junior defender Payton Bunting  for putting pressure on the back nine.

“The team effort, defensively, was fine,” Gallanger said. “It’s the transition into attack we’re trying to improve. They are getting more confidence. These are good learning experiences.”

Centralia (1-8, 1-6 league) takes on Tumwater on Thursday and Rochester on Tuesday.
