Tigers Hang On to Dispatch Loggers

After Onalaska scored an equalizer shortly following Napavine girls soccer’s opening score, the Tigers got a shot through the back of the net just before the halftime horn, and held on to defeat the Loggers on the road, 2-1, Wednesday night.

Dani Tupuola helped the Tigers get on the board first in the 7th minute, and after Ony fired back with a goal from Yuliana Escalera in the 15th minute, it was a late first half goal from Hayden Kaut that proved to be the difference.

Taking the 2-1 lead into the half, the Tigers held on and held the Loggers off the scoreboard to stay unbeaten on the year.

“We didn't give Ony many scoring opportunities in the second half,” Tigers assistant coach Chris Tarabochia said. “We possessed the ball so well, it really was a good team effort tonight.”

Taylen Evander had five saves for Napavine, while Ony’s Hailee Brown countered with four.

The Tigers (3-0) take on Kalama at home next Monday, while the Loggers (0-1-1) play at Hoquiam Saturday.
