Tigers Nipped by Bobcats

The Centralia boys basketball team came a whisper away from a win but fell by a point on the road Tuesday night, 50-49 to Aberdeen.

Cohen Ballard led all scorers with 21 points — going 5 for 10 from beyond the arc — and Carlos Vallejo added 12 for the Tigers.

Centralia led by three points after a quarter of play, but saw it all go wrong in the second quarter, which Aberdeen won 19-7. The Tigers made up a point in the third and went on a 15-8 run in the fourth, but the nine-point halftime deficit ended up being just a bit too much.

The Tigers will come back home Thursday for a rematch with Rochester.
