Tigers One-Hit in Toutle

The Napavine baseball team came one out away from being no-hit by Toutle Lake, and while the first knock did put the Tigers on the board, it was too little, too late in a 4-1 loss to open up a two-game series against the Ducks.

Oregon State-commit Zach Swanson struck out 10 Tigers in five no-hit innings, and Dylan Fraidenburg pitched a hitless sixth. In the seventh, Napavine loaded the bases on walks with two outs before Connor Holmes hit an RBI single, but a pitch later, the Ducks go the final out to seal the win.

Holmes went 5 ⅓ innings on the hill for the Tigers, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits. His biggest problem came in keeping the ball in the yard. Swanson gave Toutle a quick lead with a solo home run in the second, and in the fourth, the Ducks brought three more home on a big fly by Cam Wheatley.

Beckett Landrum and Hudson Chambers both reached twice on walks for Napavine.

The Tigers are slated to get another crack at the Ducks at home Saturday.
