Centralia surrendered five forfeits and wasn’t able to keep up with Tumwater, fallin 60-15, during the Tigers’ home opener in a dual match on Wednesday.
Tiger sophomore Antonio Campos, the top-ranked 120-pound wrestler in Class 2A, pushed his undefeated high-school career win streak to 31 with a second-round pin.
“We have him work on takedowns until the last 30 seconds of the round, otherwise he’d get first-round pins,” Centralia coach Scott Phillips said.
Also picking up wins for Centralia was Christopher Isai Mendoza-Ponce at 195 pounds and Antonio Garcia at 132.
On the girls side, Centralia Willa Phillips won both her matches to go 2-0 on the night, and Jade Hudson defeated Tumwater’s 106-pound varsity wrestler.
Boys results are as follow:
“We’re working hard and trying to get these guys good,” Phillips said.
