Tigers Use Balanced Offense to Upend Chinooks

In a non-league makeup contest, the Napavine baseball team usurped Kalama at home, 8-4, Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers put four runs up in the first inning, and did enough in the later innings to hold off a rally and pick up the midweek win before districts.

Gavin Parker got the start on the mound for the Tigers, pitching two innings and allowing no hits with two strikeouts. At the plate, Connor Holmes was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a walk, and Ashton Demarest added a 1 for 3 line with two runs scored and two RBIs. Demarest also picked up the save, pitching the last two innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts.

“I thought we hit the ball well up and down the lineup,” Tigers coach Brian Demarest said. “Was a nice game to get in as a warmup for districts.”

The Tigers take on 1A Elma Friday in their regular season finale on the road before opening the district tournament against Pe Ell-Willapa Valley on Saturday.
