Timberwolves Erupt in Second Half to Down Toledo

Morton-White Pass trailed Toledo by six at the half then exploded to outscore the Riverhawks 40-19 in the second half en route to a 54-39, Central 2B League victory on Wednesday.

The Timberwolves were buoyed by a momentum-shifting start the the second half, reeling off a 23-8 run coming out the locker room to outdistance the Riverhawks for good.

The T-Wolves were led by four players in double figures, with Gary Dotson tacking on a game-high 13 points, while Josh Salguero, Leytan Collette and Hunter Hazen each added 12.

MWP held Toledo’s star point guard and leading scorer, Jake Cournyer, scoreless in the second half. Cournyer finished with four points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals on the night.

The Riverhawks were led offensively by Connor Olmstead’s 12 points and five boards, while Carson Olmstead added eight.

Morton-White Pass (10-4, 5-1 C2BL) hosts Stevenson on Thursday. Toledo (11-6, 2-5 C2BL) travels to Wahkiakum on Monday.
