The 2B No. 3 Morton-White Pass boys basketball team handled its business Saturday night, capping off a 3-0 week in Central 2B League play with a 68-31 win over Winlock.

The T-Wolves (12-2, 8-0 C2BL) held the Cardinals (4-8, 0-8 C2BL) to just 16 points in the first three quarters, leading 39-12 at halftime and 56-16 after three to trigger the running clock.

“Defensively we were pretty locked in to what they were doing and trying to accomplish, and we were able to take that away well,” MWP coach Chad Cramer said. “I’m proud of us for coming out and maintaining our intensity, and executing our gameplan and what we wanted to do.”

Ten T-Wolves got in on the scoring action, led by Hunter Hazen, who racked up 21 points. Behind him, Josh Salguero and Tony Belgiorno had eight apiece, Judah Kelly scored seven, and Jake Cournyer, Jace Peters, and Kris Elliot all had six.

“Everybody got plenty of shots, we were able to get everyone a ton of minutes tonight, which was nice,” Cramer said. “This was a good opportunity to get our young guys in and get a quarter and a half of work.”

Chase Scofield led Winlock with 12 points, and Payton Sickles added seven.

Morton-White Pass will go on the road for a battle of the top two teams in the C2BL standings on Wednesday, at Napavine. Winlock, meanwhile, will host Kalama in a matchup of two teams looking for their first league win.
