For the fifth game in their six-game win streak, the Pe Ell/Willapa Valley softball team surpassed 20 runs in a sweep over North Beach 21-3 and 22-3 over a combined eight innings on Tuesday night on the coast.
Of PWV’s 43 hits in the two games, 22 of them went for extra bases. In the opener, Lorelei Smaciarz, Jillian Hodel and Lauren Matlock ripped multiple doubles. Four different players launched home runs over the two games.
In Game 1, the Titans increased a 4-0 cushion after two innings with a six-spot in the third, two more in the fourth and a nine-run outburst in the fifth. The nightcap featured 19 runs in the first inning that saw the first 11 hitters reach base.
PWV opens a two-game stretch of non-league games starting with Hoquiam at home on Wednesday.
