Titans Finish League Undefeated With Sweep of Hyaks

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley finished a flawless league slate with a resounding sweep of visiting North Beach at home on senior night Tuesday.

The Titans (14-2, 14-0 2B Pacific) have won the 2B Pacific League title for three straight years and found little resistance against the Hyaks.

Ace Olivia Matlock, Dani Shannon and Lauren Emery combined for back-to-back perfect games in dominating performances in the circle.

Matlock and Emery combined to strike out eight of the nine batters they faced in Game 1, leading to a 16-0 Titans victory. Matlock had six Ks in two innings and Emery had two Ks in the final inning.

Merissa Frasier provided the firepower on offense, going 3 for 3 with a triple, two doubles, two RBIs and three runs. Matlock knocked three triples, scored twice and drove in five runs. Grace Huber smashed a home run to go with a double, an RBI and two runs.



In Game 2, Shannon fanned four batters in two innings and Emery struck out two in one inning as the duo combined for another perfect game.

Huber and Raegan Portmann each hit home runs, with Portmann scoring three runs and driving in three more. Huber scored twice with an RBI.

Payton Peterson was 3 for 3 with three runs and an RBI, while Frasier was 2 for 2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Matlock finished with two triples, three runs and four RBIs.

"It was senior night and there was a lot of excitement," PWV coach Ken Olson said. "It's tough for us and tough for opposing teams."

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley has a few non-league matches to close out the regular season before heading to districts. The Titans next head to Castle Rock on Thursday.
