The Pe Ell-Willapa Valley football team got the bounce-back win it so desperately needed, while Morton-White Pass was dealt a dose of reality in a 41-8 win for the Titans in Randle on Friday.

PWV dropped 27 points in the first quarter on a pair of Blake Howard runs, a Kolton Fluke pass to Derek Fluke, and a blocked punt that Garrett Keaton recovered and took the other way. From there, it was 14 more Titan points, sending the guests into the break up 41 points and making the clock run as soon as the second half kicked off.

“It was 27-0 before we could figure things out,” MWP coach Lee Metcalf said. “You just can’t do that in this league.”

Howard ran the ball 16 times for 121 yards, while Cody Strozyk added 62. Kolton Fluke completed both of his passes for 65 yards.

As a team, PWV outrushed MWP 265-89, and outgained the T-Wolves 330-98.

“They were just more physical than us in all three phases of the game,” Metcalf said. “We were just not ready to play football tonight. Our kids need to realize that in the Central you can’t take the night off and expect to be successful.”

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley (2-3, 1-1 league) will host Ilwaco next week, while Morton-White Pass (4-1, 2-1 league) will get a matchup at No. 1 Napavine.
