Titans Take Down Spartans For League Title in Montesano

With hits and runs hard to come by, the Pe Ell-Willapa Valley softball team buckled down and scored just enough and rode a gem in the circle from Lauren Emery, in a 3-1 win over Forks in Montesano Friday afternoon, clinching the Pacific 2B League championship.

Emery dazzled for 13 strikeouts, and allowed just four hits while not walking a single batter in a complete game performance. The one run that the Spartans did score, was unearned.

“Lauren was spot on,” PWV coach Eric Hopfer said. “She executed the plan that we put forth to a T, I am really proud of her.”

At the plate, the Titans did just enough to get the win. CJ Sipp went 2 for 3 and had the only multi-hit day for PWV at the plate, and Kylee Lyons went 1 for 3 but knocked in a huge RBI for the Titans.

PWV will await its opponent in the first round of the 2B District 4 tournament at Fort Borst Park in Centralia Wednesday as the Pacific’s No. 1 seed.
