Toledo Keeps Rolling in Win Over Taholah

Posted

Add another game, and another win for the Toledo boys basketball team, as the Riverhawks trounced a shorthanded Taholah squad at home, 74-35, Thursday night.

Against a Chitwin squad that had a late-arriving bus, and with players out with illness, the Riverhawks (7-1) had the chance to play their entire bench. Leading the way in the scoring column was Christian Malunat, who finished with 14 points. Rayder Stemkoski was the only other Riverhawk in double figures with 12 points.

“I was proud of our guys for playing with class,” Riverhawks coach Grady Fallon said. “We made the extra pass and did a good job in a zone. Those guys got some action and did well, nobody was selfish.”

The normal starters had the chance to cheer their team on from the sideline, and give up open looks to make the extra pass and get other guys involved. Leading scorer Jake Couryner scored just six, but assisted on three baskets and hauled in six offensive rebounds.

Carson Olmstead scored just twice, but dished out eight assists in the winning effort.

The Riverhawks will play next against 1B Naselle at home on Saturday at 6 p.m.
