Trailing after one quarter, Toledo made the adjustment on defense and ended up pulling away from Winlock in an 82-57 victory Tuesday night in its league opener.

The Cardinals got out to a fast start, scoring 22 in the opening frame, with half of those coming from Nolan Swofford, but then the Riverhawks put on the clamps and held the Cards to just 35 points the rest of the night.

Swofford ended up with 32 points in his debut, and for Toledo, Carson Olmstead led the way with 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Jake Cournyer scored 18, hauled in six rebounds and dished out five assists.

Toledo shot 29 for 57 as a team and outrebounded the Cards 22-21 on the night.

The Riverhawks will take on Sound Christian Academy on Thursday while Winlock looks for its first win against Onalaska.
