Trojans Come Up Short Against Comets

Pe Ell couldn’t cut its deficit by less than five points as the Trojans were handed a 58-47 road loss to Naselle in 1B Columbia Valley League play on Wednesday.

Wyatt Marrs had a tremendous night offensively for the Trojans, scoring a game-high 19 points, but Pe Ell didn’t have enough left in the tank to comeback against the Comets.

“Marrs finished well for us offensively,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “But, again, we found ourselves in foul trouble.”

The Trojans sent Naselle to the free-throw line 28 times, where the Comets knocked in 15 freebies, compared to just 7 for 11 at the charity stripe for Pe Ell.

Kail Homan and Jesse Zard finished with nine points for Pe Ell, while Blake Howard tacked on seven.

Pe Ell continues league play when it travels to Mossyrock on Friday.
