Trojans Outlast Acorns in First District Round

Posted

Without two starters, the Pe Ell girls basketball team still had no trouble dispatching Oakville on the road in the first round of the 1B District 4 girls basketball tournament, 47-24, Tuesday night.

The Trojans were led once again by the stellar play of Charlie Carper, who scored a game-high 24 points to go along with 14 rebounds, 15 steals, and four assists.

Brookelynn King added 15 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals for Pe Ell.

“We played well enough to win without two starters and got some kids some time to get ready for Thursday night. I really loved the effort that we displayed tonight.”

The Acorns were led by Alyssa Forsythe’s team-high eight points, but couldn’t score enough to keep up with a physical and energetic Trojan attack.

Pe Ell will advance to the second round of the district tournament where it will take on Willapa Valley in Menlo, while Oakville’s season has come to an end.
