Make it a perfect 9-0 for the Pe Ell girls basketball team, which defeated Ocosta 51-21 on Monday to remain undefeated.
The Trojans led by just three after the first quarter, but Maisy King led a strong offensive effort in the second to help Pe Ell’s lead jump to 19 before halftime. A quick flurry at the start of the second half helped push it out of reach.
In just two quarters, King went on to finish with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double, and she also added three steals and two assists.
“She definitely provided the spark we needed … There’s just more energy when she’s on the court. I love her style of play. She is fearless and always gives 100 percent.”
Peyton Zock scored a team-high 12 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out two assists, while Karli Phelps tallied nine points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and a pair of steals.
Madi Engel scored nine points while also logging four assists and three steals, while Devyn Shannon scored four points and had nine rebounds. Emma Kissner added six points.
It’s back to league play on Tuesday for the Trojans (9-0, 2-0 1B CVL), as they’ll host Oakville.
