Trojans Swept by Columbia Adventist

With two starters out and sick, Pe Ell couldn’t keep up with Columbia Adventist in a sweeping loss (25-19, 25-20, 25-12) on the road Tuesday in 1B Columbia Valley League play.

Missing the two starters, the Trojans were forced to switch from their usual 5-1 formation to a 4-2, bringing in Charlise Belanger to help set. Belanger and Kennedy Kephart combined for 40 sets on the night.

Kephart finished with 15 of 18 on passing with three digs in a noteworthy performance in the back row, a place she normally doesn’t play. She also smashed a team-high five kills

Belanger, Alli Engle and Abby Cox each had four kills, while Ava Bush finished with a team-high six digs and was praised by coach Hollie Briggs for her digging in the back row and overall hustle.

“Our energy was up and we did OK,” Briggs said.

Pe Ell (3-4, 3-4 league) hosts Three Rivers Christian on Thursday.
