The Pe Ell boys basketball team earned itself a statement win in non-league play, beating Oakville 61-42 at home Wednesday.

“Our young men generated everything tonight from our defensive intensity for all four quarters,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “We were patient offensively and tenacious defensively. I’m really happy for our guys, but this is only the start for us.”

The Trojans’ leaders all filled out their statsheets beyond just points. Kail Homan led the way in scoring with 25, while also coming away with 12 boards and seven steals. Logan Baldwin added a 14-point, 12-board double-double, and Blake Howard had 10 points, seven steals, and six rebounds.

“Everything we have been working on in practice seemed to click tonight,” Phelps said.

Oakville is slated to play at Adna next Tuesday, and Pe Ell is set to get the rest of the month off and return to play against Mossyrock on Jan. 4.
