Led by senior Lucia Amantea’s individual victory, Tumwater took five of the top six spots to claim a team win at a dual cross country meet at Stan Hedwall Park on Wednesday.

Tumwater tallied 19 points to W.F. West’s 36. Amantea won the race by nearly a minute, finishing in 21:45.79, to best W.F. West freshman Mercedes Ricks (22:38.50).

“The course was a little rough and there were some holes,” Rick said.

Ricks is still working on her form to drop her times and is just in her second race back after suffering an injury.

“Mercedes Ricks is making her way back into racing shape after having a calf injury,” W.F. West coach Amber Cruzan said. “She is learning pace.”

Tumwater took spots three through six with Olivia Marty (23:11.39), Olivia Ahrens (23:41.96), Jesse Brumbaugh (24:07.34) and Rachel Zahn (24:15.04).

W.F. West took the final placings, seven through 11. Cadence Edminster was seventh (25:11.11), Brooke Johnston was eighth (27:19.87), Jaelynn Viall was ninth (27:20.37), Lia Hornby was 10th (27:42.74) and Kaitlin Elmore was 11th (30:11.20.)

“Brooke Johnston had a great finish and ran a strong race,” Cruzan said.
