The Tumwater volleyball team swept their southern 4A opponent from Union (Vancouver) on Tuesday night at home, winning 25-10, 25-20, 25-13.

The Thunderbirds displayed a well-balanced offensive attack, quickly taking command early in the match.

The T-Birds maintained a healthy lead for most of the contest, with Union only coming within five in the second set. Nevertheless, Tumwater was able to stave off a Union comeback in that set and take a 2-0 lead.

The T-Birds were able to pick up some quick points as well, as they tallied 11 aces on the night. Lalie Betschart recorded five and Bri Zavala added four.

The T-Birds will look to continue their winning ways tomorrow night at home when North Thurston comes to town at 7 p.m.
