Tumwater Takes Down Another Big School

Tumwater has vanquished another larger-classification program as the Thunderbirds delivered a 65-45 drubbing to Class 3A Lake Washington in a non-league contest at home on Monday.

Aubrey Amendala led the T-Birds’ attack with a game-high 20 points on 9 of 15 shooting (60%), to go with five rebounds and five assists.

Tumwater raced out to a 15-3 lead to start the game and built a commanding 33-17 lead in the second quarter before the Kangaroos drilled two 3-pointers just before the half to cut the deficit to 10.

The Kangaroos chipped away in the third quarter, pulling within three, before Tumwater reeled off a 21-9 run in the final frame to outdistance the Kangs and secure the win.

Natalie Sumrok finished with 15 points and five rebounds for the T-Birds, while Kylie Waltermeyer added 12 points, six rebounds and three assists and Isabella Lund chipped in six points, a team-high six assists and five steals and nine rebounds.

Tumwater (13-1, 6-0 EvCo) hosts Aberdeen on Thursday in 2A Evergreen Conference play.
